Subhan  in 5EC won a competition for Thank a Teacher Day hosted by David Walliams! The competition was to delight David Walliams by writing a story or short poem about your school or teaching staff. Amazingly, David chose Subhan’s as his favourite to receive a special shout out and prize! Well done Subhan we are so proud of you!

The Winning Poem:

Teachers

Written as a Terza Rima by Subhan Khalid

A teacher is someone you can trust,

If you need someone to rely on,

A teacher is a must,

A teacher does not have a con,

They help us in our troubles,

A teacher’s help is never forgone,

They help us leave our bubbles,

And reach our full potential,

And aid us in our struggles,

A teacher is essential,

To help us reach the top,

Teachers are fundamental,

A teacher won’t let us down or let us drop,

Teachers make us spread our wings,

Teachers help us nonstop,

They help us with difficult things,

They aren’t cunning nor sly,

Teachers are our Queens and Kings,

Whether they are born in April or July,

 A teacher is a vessel,

Which help us reach the sky,

I hope you have found out what makes teachers so special,

To help us learn it all - Teachers are instrumental!

Three peaks challenge

At the end of last year, a few members of staff from Broomwood Primary School finally ran the Manchester Marathon as a relay team to try and raise some money with a view to having a running track installed at the school.

After the success of this event, we wanted to set ourselves another challenge to raise further funds for this important cause. So, on the 25th June, some members of the staff will brave the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.

This route is 24 miles (38.6km) and includes 1586m (5200ft) of ascent.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge takes on the the peaks of Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough and is tackled in under 12 hours.

As we continue to raise funds for the school we are asking whether you would like to make a donation to sponsor our walkers with this venture. This can be done either through ParentPay or GoFundMe and the links can be found below.

Thank you for your support and good luck to everyone taking up the Three Peaks Challenge.

Everyone at Broomwood Primary School would like to wish our past pupil Tahlia Blake the best of luck as she represents England at the European Karate Championships in Prague in June. She has worked so hard towards this amazing achievement and fully deserves the recognition she has received. We look forward to hearing all about your exploits on your return.

Go Tahlia!

Toothbrush challenge

Preschool, nursery and reception don’t forget to complete the brushing challenge. Please send your completed challenge back into school once you have brushed twice a day for 7 days.
